Many studies have shown that a sufficient intake of vitamin C supplements would help with asthma symptoms. Ideally, you should take around 500mg on a daily basis. However, make sure to ask your doctor if you have kidney disease. In this case, the recommended amount might be lower. Another supplement to take is molybdenum, a trace substance in peas, lentils, and beans. You need to make sure enough consumption of selenium as well. This mineral is needed for many biochemical reactions that control your asthma inflammation. Some selenium-rich foods include meat, seafood, and organs. Anti-Inflammatory Medications

Anti-inflammatories medications are one of the best treatment options for asthma. These inhaled or oral drugs would alleviate mucus and swelling in the airways, thus preventing or controlling the symptoms. It is important to take them on a daily basis to maximize the results. Inhaled corticosteroids like mometasone, ciclesonide, budesonide, and fluticasone are often prescribed for long-term solutions. To get temporary relief, leukotriene modifiers can be a good option. However, all of these drugs would come with some side effects, such as aggression, agitation, nausea, and vomiting. Make sure to consult your doctor and follow the instructions to prevent these complications. [12]
