HLA-B27 test is the main type of blood test to diagnose ankylosing spondylitis. It is used to determine the presence of HLA-B27, a particular genetic variation. When this substance presents, it would lead to the attacks of healthy cells by white blood cells. Some mostly affected areas include eyes, neck, or spine. This condition would lead to ankylosing spondylitis over time. Nevertheless, this is not a definitive method. Some other blood tests for ankylosing spondylitis diagnosis include ESR and CRP. Both techniques measure the markers that occur when there are inflammatory activities in the body. [2]
