ADHD – Types, Diagnosis, Treatments, and Outlook

7Adequate Sleep and Regular Exercise

ADHD patients need adequate sleep to get relaxed and avoid listlessness. However, due to racing and rowdy ADHD brains, ADHD patients are more likely to suffer from sleep disorders such as insomnia, frequent awakenings, obstructive sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, or other periodic limb movement disorders. Therefore, it might be essential to follow sleeping tips or use sleeping pills to ensure a good sleep.

Exercising is the most natural way for the body to release dopamine, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends ADHD patients a minimum of one hour of physical activity per day. Sports like yoga, martial arts, and tai chi are ideal choices to improve concentration and reduce overactive behaviors.

Outlook

ADHD without proper intervention can badly influence how people live, study, and work. If you suspect your kids or family members have an attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, consult a psychiatrist or psychologist immediately. Getting an early diagnosis and treatment can achieve the best therapeutic effect and help patients get along with ADHD better.
