ADHD treatments include psychotherapy, behavior therapy, and medication. For children younger than six years of age, ADHD specialists recommend behavior therapy as the prior treatment. For adults with ADHD, these treatments are usually used in combination by doctors.

Psychotherapy for ADHD

Psychotherapy or talk therapy is an effective approach to alleviate ADHD symptoms, especially among adults. By consulting with a psychologist, ADHD patients can recognize their emotional fluctuations and learn how to manage their impulsivity problems better.

Behavior Therapy for ADHD

Behavior therapy is a common method in treating pediatric ADHD patients, and the core knacks of behavior therapy are to encourage positive behaviors and eliminate negative behaviors. The process often requires support from parents and the participants of teachers. Both parties need to work together and offer appropriate help to correct the unwanted behaviors if the child shows any disruptive actions at home or school.
