ADHD – Types, Diagnosis, Treatments, and Outlook

2Predominantly Inattentive Presentation

People with the predominantly inattentive presentation of ADHD are more likely to have problems sustaining focus than showing symptoms of hyperactivity. They could easily get distracted by other things and forget their routine chores. Besides, those people also tend to make careless mistakes and fail to meet deadlines.

Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Presentation

People with the predominantly hyperactive-impulsive presentation of ADHD are primarily featured by hyperactivity and impulsivity. This group might have trouble regulating their behaviors and tend to fidget around, act without thinking, talk excessively, interrupt others’ conversations frequently, and struggle to do quiet tasks like reading. Although inattention is less of a concern with this type, people may exhibit an inability to focus more or less.

Combined Hyperactive-Impulsive and Inattentive Presentation

As you can suggest from its name, combined hyperactive-impulsive and inattentive presentation has integrated symptoms of the above two subtypes: hyperactivity-impulsivity & inattention. The combined type is also the most common ADHD that interferes with people’s normal social networks and reduces the quality of life.
