4Aspergillosis
Aspergillosis is a fungal infection caused by Aspergillus. These molds can be commonly found both outside and indoors. In fact, most people breathe in Aspergillus fungi every day without any problem. But when your immune system is affected by acute myeloid leukemia, the risk of aspergillosis is higher. The infection mostly affects the lung. Some common forms of aspergillosis with their signs include:
– Aspergilloma: coughing up blood, coughing, shortness of breath
– Allergic Aspergillus sinusitis: smell issues, headache, stuffiness, runny nose
– Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis: coughing, shortness of breath, wheezing
– Invasive aspergillosis: bloody coughing, coughing, shortness of breath, chest pain, fever
