5Light Chain Myeloma
Immunoglobulins are those antibodies generated by cancerous cells caused by multiple myeloma. When your body just produces incomplete immunoglobulin or light chain antibody, then you are suffering from a special type called light chain myeloma. Around 1 out of 5 people have this type. If left untreated in an extended period, light chains would accumulate in the kidneys and cause permanent damages. A urine test is often used to diagnose since light chains tend to be more common in your urine instead of your blood. They are filtered out of your blood before reaching the kidneys. Those proteins found in urine are known as Bence-Jones proteins. [5]
