3Allergic Pharyngitis and Acid Reflux
Allergic pharyngitis causes the throat to become inflamed. It often occurs when an allergen penetrates the mouth or nose. People might experience this cause when their noses are stuffed up because of seasonal allergies, forcing them to breathe through the mouth. As a result, irritation and scratchy sensations may happen when the tissues get dry. Also, you would experience postnasal drip when mucus drains down the throat. Acid reflux is a common digestive issue. It happens when stomach bile or acid flows back to the throat, which irritates the esophagus and pharynx. People with acid reflux tend to feel a sore throat, especially after they have been lying down for a period or when they wake up in the morning. The most common cause of acid reflux is the food or drink that you consume. However, it can also be a persistent condition often known as GERD or gastroesophageal reflux disease. [5]
