5Ankylosing Spondylitis
Ankylosing spondylitis is characterized by attacks on the areas where ligaments and tendons attach to the bones. People with this condition often experience stiffness and pain, particularly around their lower back. The most affected part is often the spine. Ankylosing spondylitis can also attack your peripheral joints in feet or hands. This is a hereditary condition that is more common in men and people with the HLA-B27 gene. Some races and ethnics are also at higher risk of developing ankylosing spondylitis than others. [5]
