Our body systems respond to infection in diverse ways as a way of showing that something unusual is happening to our bodies. Lymph nodes are immune system glands usually enlarge in response to a bacterial or viral infection. They are small round bean-shaped structures which play a vital role in the body’s immune system. They are amazingly present in every part of our bodies, but the ones that get swollen frequently are the ones in the head, armpits, neck or groin region. Anytime a lymph node is enlarged, it is indicating an infection. [9]
