It is possible to have mononucleosis without any clear symptoms. This is particularly true in mild cases. Although you can be infected with the disease, signs will not show up or occur so subtly that it can be hard to notice. Scientists are not sure why, but most serious symptoms tend to be diagnosed in adults or elder people. This means younger kids, around 3 to 5 years old, might only feel tired or a mild fever – or they might not have any obvious symptoms as mentioned above at all.
