5Coffee
Studies have revealed that drinking coffee attenuates the risk of gout for women and men. The larger study including 45,869 men above 40 years old with no gout history, showed that the risk of gout attack was 40% lower for men who drank 4 – 5 cups daily – and 59% lower for those that drank more than 6 cups per day compared to men who abstain from drinking coffee.
In another study, 14,000 men and women at least 20 years old partake in food questionnaires, and it was found that the level of uric acid in the blood is directly proportional to the amount of coffee drunk daily. That means the more coffee you drink; the lower your risk of gout attacks. However, tea seemed to produce no evident effect on the level of uric acid.[5]
