10 Ways to Remove Varicose Veins

2Horse Chestnut Extract

Horse chestnut is a herb that is widely used as an alternative medicine for varicose veins. The active component in this plant is aescin. Studies have shown that this compound can provide a great effect in reducing leg swelling and pain. However, it should only be used for people with varicose veins in the short term. There is still no scientific evidence on its long-term effects. Possible side effects of horse chestnut extract include vomiting, nausea, headache, diarrhea, convulsions, as well as respiratory and circulatory failure. Avoid crude forms of this plant, such as nuts, leaves, and tea.[3]

Grape Seed Extract

Grape seed extract contains a form of antioxidant called oligomeric proanthocyanidin complexes or OPCs. It is effective in alleviating inflammation and improving the connective tissue in blood vessels. Some studies have shown that OPCs can benefit those who come with varicose veins. Make sure not to be confused between grapefruit seed and grape seed extract. Possible side effects of this remedy include upset stomach and nausea. Avoid grape seed extract if you are suffering from autoimmune diseases, such as Crohn’s disease, multiple sclerosis, or rheumatoid arthritis. [4]
