When consumed in moderation, ethanol in alcohol would reduce the risk of heart disease and increase good HDL cholesterol levels. These drinks have been shown to improve the reverse of cholesterol transport, which removes cholesterol from vessel walls and blood, then takes it back to the liver. This can help lower the risk of heart issues and clogged arteries. However, drinking alcoholic beverages too much would have harmful effects, especially addiction and many chronic diseases.
