10 Types of Brain Tumors

7Schwannoma

Schwannomas are those brain tumors that occur in the Schwann cells, which insulate and surround cranial nerves. They account for more than 8% of all reported cases. As a grade 1 form, this type is almost always benign and would originate from any cranial nerves. When these tumors are formed on the regions that are responsible for balance and hearing near your cerebellum, they would trigger acoustic neuromas or vestibular schwannomas. In rare cases, they can even spread to your spinal nerves and leave the spinal cord. When this occurs, the tumors would press on your spinal cord and lead to many health issues. These include sensory loss, bladder or bowel problems, and weakness. [7]
