5Liquid Diet
After the surgery, it is important to avoid solid foods. Otherwise, the digestive tract can be irritated and causes more pain. Initially, you are only allowed to eat all foods in the liquid forms, including fruit juice, hot cereal, whole milk, supplement beverage, yogurt, soup, or ice cream. These foods contain no to little protein or fiber, thus giving the digestive system a break. However, you have to eat more meals per day to ensure a sufficient intake of nutrients and calories. Another good option to add to a liquid diet is a liquid multivitamin. This is especially important when you do not get full nutrition from foods. It takes around 1 to 2 weeks before you can gradually introduce more solid foods. [8]
