8Thickened Skin
People with rosacea may have their skin become thinker due to excess accumulation of skin tissue. It looks like bumpy skin with a bulbous look. The most common affected area is the nose, but the symptom could also spread to other parts, such as ears, cheeks, forehead, and chin. Skin thickening is more prevalent in women than in men. Depending on the type of rosacea you have and the affected area, you might feel sore or tender as well. [9]
Possible Complications
Rosacea may lead to some possible complications affecting the skin. The most common issue is skin thickening, especially after many years of living with the condition. Recurrent lesions could result in scarring as well. In rare cases, the disease would lead to skin infections or bleeding when you scratch the skin excessively. Due to the appearance of the skin, you could suffer from emotional distress over time. If left unresolved, many mental issues may happen. [10]
