4Restriction of Social Skills
Social skills like communication skills needed to allow people to interact effectively with those around them can be affected by anorexia, leading to social constraints and difficulties, which are challenges that cause an individual to feel disconnected and isolated from the people around them. These difficulties may include, inability to makes new friends, and an absence of firm boundaries, and may eventually lead to weaker and overall mental and physical health. Many people who suffer from anorexia experience behavior rigidity.
They tend to stick to the “rules and regulations” and appropriately complete all tasks. Thus, resulting in a higher likelihood of developing the following – anxiety, perfectionism, and obsession.[4]
The difficulties in maintaining or forming a strong social network compel such individuals into isolation, loneliness, and eating disorder. [5]
