8Ice and Heat
One of the simplest home remedies for pain is the application of ice and heat directly to the affected areas. Though this treatment is easy, not all of us know precisely when to use heat versus ice. In general, an ice pack can be used to alleviate inflammation and swelling right after a strained ligament, tendon, or muscle. Once the condition has disappeared, you should use heat to relieve the stiffness after strains and sprains. Also, a moist heat pack would be helpful in treating arthritis. [8]
