2Nasal Congestion
This can otherwise be called a stuffy nose. It is triggered or caused by a cold in which the nasal passages are swollen with excess mucus and leads to the blockage of the nose. In the case of whooping cough, nasal congestion occurs after the cold sets in, and when excess mucus runs down the back of the throat, it results to cough. A whooping cough patient will surely have a runny nose, and this symptom will last longer than usual. So, when next you have persistent nasal congestion, check for other symptoms to be sure you are off the whooping cough list.
