Some of the reasons self-medication is harmful are because most drugs we use have side effects unknown to we the consumers, combinations of some medications do not really go down well, some consumers have medical histories that put a restriction on the kind of drugs they can use. Some drugs have been confirmed to trigger stroke. Drugs like a blood thinner, Vioxx and Bextra, Avandia retain fluid can cause blood to flow in a turbulent manner, thereby resulting in high blood pressure or stroke. Cocaine, methamphetamines and other stimulants can also put on the blood vessels and cause it to rupture and leak. [7]
