10Pregnancy
Pregnant women are often at a higher risk of developing a bladder infection. This is because hormonal changes during this period would cause the muscles of their bladder to relax and delay the emptying. Another possible cause is the pressing of the baby on the bladder, which affects the normal functions of this organ and creates ideal conditions for bacteria to thrive. More importantly, the immune system in those women with pregnancy is also compromised. As a result, bacteria would penetrate and thrive more easily. [10]
