1What Is Crohn’s Disease?

Crohn’s disease is a type of inflammatory bowel disease. It occurs when the immune system causes inflammation in the intestinal tract. This leads to hallmark features, such as abdominal pain, unexpected weight loss, diarrhea, and fatigue. There is currently no cure for Crohn’s disease. However, many treatment options are available to manage this chronic disorder. The exact causes are still not clear, but scientists believe that it results from a combination of environmental and genetic factors. Studies have shown that people with Crohn’s disease may be at risk of developing many other disorders. [1]
